GCSE English Literature
The AQA GCSE English Literature course requires candidates to explore texts from a personal perspective and offers an experience of Literature today and the literary heritage
Mark Rutherford’s Literature course requires our students to explore texts from a critical and personal perspective, exploring its literary heritage. We study one novel, two plays and an anthology of poetry in full. Our students are encouraged to read around their subject and are encouraged to read academically and for pleasure to support their studies. Our set texts are:
Shakespeare – Macbeth
19th-century novel – A Christmas Carol
Modern Drama – An Inspector Calls
Poetry Anthology – AQA Power and Conflict
Students are assessed by their teacher throughout Year 10 and Year 11 in preparation for their exams. However, English Literature is 100% exam assessed.
