Business Mentors

We know that employers in the UK have concerns about skills gaps and the work-readiness of some young people. Mark Rutherford School is a member of the South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership (SEMLEP) Careers and Enterprise Network, part of the national Careers and Enterprise Company programme.

Business Mentor Scheme

We have a thriving business partnership with local businesses and companies who support students at Mark Rutherford School with various activities from mentoring to mock interviews and careers talks. We are always looking for more passionate employers from businesses to support our students to bring the world of work to life for the next generation. Please see below how business mentors support our students.

Business breakfasts: We hold five of these a year usually on a theme involving a specific sector with invited students to talk informally to.

Talks and Assemblies: Assemblies are at the start of the day and will be to a particular year group. We can also arrange small groups for you to talk to informally about your business should you prefer.

Visits: Could you open up your premises (if suitable) for a small group of students to come and look round and experience a work place?

Employability skills programme: This is run by our Business Mentors for our Year 13 cohort who are not planning on going to university. The aim of this is to provide them with skills for entering the job market. We end the workshops with a practical Networking Lunch.

Please contact us via careers@mrus.co.uk if you are interested in joining our programme of Business Mentors.
