University Destinations

We are incredibly proud of the achievement of our Sixth Form students at Mark Rutherford School. Our highly experienced Sixth Form team offer carefully tailored advice to our students about subject choices as they move into higher education, always considering a pupil’s strengths and preferences. Please see below the destinations of our Sixth Form students following receipt of their A Level examination results. 

We always enjoy reuniting with our former students who we welcome back to Mark Rutherford School to speak to our current students about their sixth form, university and career experience.  Our students have studied a wide range of subjects at degree level at top universities, such as Birmingham, Cambridge, King’s London, Leeds, Manchester, Nottingham, Warwick, York. 

Apprenticeship Destinations

While a higher number of our Sixth Form students go on to university degree courses following their Key Stage 5 qualifications, we also have a significant number of students who take the opportunity to explore a higher apprenticeship option. As with other apprenticeships, a higher apprenticeship is a route into a real job, where students also get to work towards a recognised qualification. Taking between two and five years to complete, higher apprenticeships are available at Level 4 and Level 5 through study at a further education (FE) college.
