History Department at

The History Department is currently accommodated is in 4 dedicated classrooms. The Department is friendly, enthusiastic and supportive. All staff share in the teaching of years 7 to 13 in delivering the following courses:

  • KS3: At KS3 students in Year 7 study History as part of an overall Humanities focus. For 8 lessons a fortnight, students will be taught Humanities on the theme of World Continents.
    In Year 8 and 9, Students study History as an independent subject. The topics will range from the Tudors to the War on Terrorism. 
  • KS4: At KS4 students are taught the Edexcel History specification which includes 3 separate exam units: Germany from 1918 to 1939, Crime and Punishment from 1000 AD to 2017 AD and The Cold War from 1945 to 1991/Elizabethan England.
  • KS5: At KS5 students study Communist States in the 20th Century – China and Russia – as well as the Tudors. They sit a total of 3 exams and complete one piece of coursework on a topic of their choice.
